Scientific Advisory Board

The BNERC has an eight-member Advisory Board (AB) with members from universities and industry. This board will provide executive oversight, meet at least once a year, and develop and oversee a long-term assessment policy to ensure the center's success and sustainability. The members are:

• Jeremy Chambers: Professor of Protein Biochemistry and Department Head of Biology & Microbiology at SDSU.

• Jeff Elhai: Expert in symbiotic nitrogen fixation and bioinformatics from Virginia Commonwealth University.

• Bill Gibbons (Chair of AB): Industry Microbiologist at South Dakota State University.

• James Golden: Expert in heterocyst, cyanobacterial biotechnology, and Molecular Genetics from the University of California – San Diego.

• Mark Luecke: President and Chief Operating Officer of South Dakota Innovation Partners, LLC.

• Qin Ma: Professor of Bioinformatics at Ohio State University.

• Craig Venter: Founder & Chief Executive Officer of JCVI Synthetic Genomics, Inc..

• Patrick Eagle Staff: Director of Graduate Studies at Oglala Lakota College.
